About the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi:-
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi is a welfare scheme launched on 1st Feb, 2019. The ministry which helped in launching and implementing this scheme was Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The scheme of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi was announced by the Minister of Food and Public Distribution, Piyush Goyal while announcing the Interim Union Budget of India. The key people who was involved in this scheme mission was an IAS officer who is Vivek Aggarwal. This scheme was started implementing on December in 2018. The budget which is for the scheme implementation was of 75,000 rupees crores per annum.
Aims and Objectives of this scheme:-
This scheme of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana aims at empowering the farmers as they are very important for the economy and the people too. Keeping welfare of farmers in mind, the primary aim of this scheme was to give and provide farmers with the minimum income support of 6,000 rupees.
Here, below are written some of the aims and objectives of the scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi:-
- To provide a primary source of income to people and a financial backup all around the country, having a cultivable land.
- To increase the consumption in rural areas.
- To make efforts so that farmers can have doubled their income by 2022.
Eligibility of this scheme:-
This scheme is open for all the farmers both small and marginal who are holding a cultivable land can take help of the scheme and would be eligible to take this scheme’s advantages.
The Benefits of This scheme:-
The government scheme of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi have many benefits. Some of these advantages are written below:-
- In three installments, 2000 rupees were given to the farmers total of 6000 rupees.
- This scheme provides farmers with little financial help which helped them to reduce the debt burden on themselves and improving their financial well-being too.
- This scheme of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, was launched to prevent poverty among the farmers. This scheme helped them to get a basic income so that they can maintain a standard of living.
- This scheme will help in increasing the purchasing power of the farmers too. Which will result in increasing of demand of goods and services.
- This scheme will help them in cases of crop failure too.
Progress of this scheme:-
This scheme was launched and successfully implemented too in all round the country and in the last five years it have achieved many landmarks too. World Bank have appreciated the scheme for it’s vision, scale and the way of implementation. This have been found it the research on Uttar Pradesh farmers which shows that majority of the farmers got this scheme’s benefit and whole amount with no leakages. The amount which farmers got from this scheme, they invested it on buying the agricultural equipment like seeds, pesticides and fertilizers.
The scheme’s benefit was most utilized by the women farmers. This improved their standards of living and given them a financial stability too. Under this scheme 85% of farmers small and marginalized were benefitted. This scheme reached to every farmers without any involvement of a middleman. The scheme was efficient, effective and digitalized too. This PM KISAN portal was in collaboration effect of the Unique Identification Authority of India, Public Financial Management System and The Income Tax Department of our country.
The government have made an application so that people who are enrolled in this scheme can see the status, the portal is named as “know your status.” The digital reform made the whole process of this scheme effective, transparent, easy and efficient method.
The government has also developed Kisan-e-mitra which as an AI based software available in ten languages with the help of this farmers can raise their queries and resolve them in some time. The Ai based technological solution indicates how AI can help in making the process and agriculture more efficient.
The people who are enrolled in this scheme get a direct transfer of money in their account which avoid any leakages and reduces the corruption too in many ways.
Way forward:-
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme is a scheme which was for the farmers who are especially small and marginalized which provide them with the benefit of some financial back-up. Here are some ways which we can implement to reform this scheme and make it more beneficial for the people. These methods are written below:-
- More focus on digitalization:- There might be many farmers who are not using all these technology because of non availability of the documents. This needs to be checked district wise where there is more people dependent on agriculture for their economy control. The all process of enrolment and progress should be digitalized which will help in keeping a record of all the users more transparently and Making of more AI based solutions for the good of farmers can be encouraged so that we can keep technology, and agricultural development hand in hand.
- More Literacy and awareness:- There should be more awareness about the advantages and also the usage of the schemes along with the applications too which should be given to all the farmers and even the women who are involved in some way in the agriculture. Awareness is very important which can be done by appointing proper volunteers, civil servants and on-ground officers to every rural area where there are farmers to tell them what it is, how they can enroll themselves to get the benefit of the schemes, and what scheme’s benefit they will be getting ultimately too. This is very important to do, Also making them financially literate and technologically updated.
- Encouraging farmers to invest the money: – This is very important for telling the farmers of rural area, ways they can invest those money they are getting by the government in the benefit of the scheme. The significance of investing in agriculture can be taught to them of good equipment and resources which are effective and efficient to use.
