Submissions are now invited for the INSA-SERB Essay Competition 2021 on the topic Our Lives & the Sciences: During and After the Pandemic.
The Indian National Science Academy (INSA) was established in January 1935 with the object of promoting science in India and harnessing scientific knowledge for the cause of humanity and national welfare. The foundation of the Academy, earlier known as the National Institute of Sciences of India (NISI), was the outcome of joint endeavours of several organizations and individuals and the International Science Council (ISC) playing a leading role in this regard.
Life has been affected in many dimensions by Covid-19. It even modified the focus of research & working in the laboratories, especially where constant monitoring and interactions were required. With vaccination, hopes for recovery are soaring but the challenges still remain.
The emphasis in the essay should be not only on a realistic assessment of the situation and a discussion on the challenge such as the one posed by the emerging new variants. Some constructive solutions for the problems faced in society and laboratories. The changes in lifestyle, relations, values, work culture, which are perceived after the pandemic, may also be highlighted. The language, style, clarity, etc. will
also, be given weight in the evaluation.
The word limit is 1500 to 3000 words.
- Graduates and PG in science
- Graduates/ PG in management, medical science and engineering
- People with doctoral (PhD) or higher degrees
- Open category which is open to all, other than the above three categories.
