About Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights

Delhi Commission For Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the rights of the children, commissioning research studies, inquiring into specific complaints/violations of the rights, organise awareness campaigns, conferences & seminars, and advising the Government on formulation, amendment and implementation mechanisms of any policy, or legislation related to children.

Theme

Through the prism of an Open Theme, the forthcoming issue invites reflections and narratives from our readers and subscribers on the various challenges that children may be experiencing that could impinge on their rights.
The issue thus invites submissions on any domain or domains related to children, including but not limited to health (pregnancy care, nutrition, immunisation, primary health care, and adolescent health), school education and disability, protection (sexual violence against children, child marriage, child labour, trafficking, children in conflict with the law, safety issues, alternative care), agency and participation, and adolescent issues.

Five Categories

Authors can submit their papers under the following five categories related to the domain of child’s rights viz Research, Critique and Commentary, Voices from the Field, Best Practices and Book Reviews. The five distinct categories are further elaborated upon as follows:

  1. Original research, based on primary or secondary research, explicitly or implicitly related to children’s rights.
  2. Best practices of implementation of policies, schemes, legislations; programmes, implementation mechanisms; administration, access to the justice system, and analysis of relevant court judgments, etc. in the field of children’s rights.
  3. Voices from the Field: These would include submissions which discuss operational challenges, learnings and experiences of practitioners from the field working in the domain of child rights.
  4. Critique and commentary on various policies, schemes, legislations, programmes, implementation mechanisms; administration, access to the justice system, and analysis of relevant court’s judgments, etc which directly or indirectly affect children’s rights and lives.
  5. Reviews of any existing or recently published books in the field of child rights. In case the book is not explicitly related to children’s rights, the reviewer should be able to make a definite, relevant connection to the aforementioned domains for the submission to be acceptable.

Guidelines

  • The papers should be submitted in English.
  • In the case of tables, they should be in an open-editable format. (like Excel and Docx)
  • In the case of graphs, they should be in an open-editable format. In case of non-editable format, ensure it is a high-quality PNG or JPG (300 dpi or more) or PDF (high quality).
  • In the case of infographics, it should be in an open-editable format. In case of non-editable format, ensure it is a high-quality PNG or JPG (300 dpi or more) or PDF (high quality).
  • Authors are encouraged to upload/share images that align with their paper in the following format:
    ▪ No less than 150 dpi.
    ▪ Formats – PNG, JPG, TIFF and RAW
    ▪ An open editable source file is preferred.
  • The papers shall be submitted in Word document (.doc/.docx) format only.
    The word limit shall include footnotes that would elaborate on all sources being cited in APA format.

Formatting specifications

  • For Headings: Times New Roman, size:13, Bold
  • For the main body: Times New Roman, Alignment: Justified, size: 12, spacing: 1.5
  • For Footnotes: Times New Roman, size:10, Spacing: 1.0
  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides.
  • Paragraphs should be formatted in sequence and avoid textbox insertion.
  • Mention your full name, contact number, postal address and email ID clearly in the paper.
